NYC Domestic Violence Task Force (DVTF) Steering Committee Members Announced

We are pleased to announce that CONNECT Co-Executive Director Quentin Walcott is one of ten advocates and survivors selected to serve on the NYC Domestic Violence Task Force (DVTF) Steering Committee. The interdisciplinary DVTF Steering Committee will support a series of citywide initiatives to improve prevention efforts and the city’s response to domestic violence. The first DVTF Steering Committee meeting will be held in February, after which subcommittees will be developed.

The steering committee members were chosen through a nomination process. The NYC organizations represented on the steering committee include: Day One, CONNECT, Her Justice, New Destiny Housing, Queens Legal Services, Safe Horizon, Steps to End Family Violence, Urban Justice Center, Voices of Women and Center for Court Innovation. Additionally, representatives from city agencies, the five District Attorney’s Offices and criminal legal services will also participate in the Steering Committee.

CONNECT welcomes the opportunity to be part of this important initiative and represent our community partners,” said Mr. Walcott.

The NYC Domestic Violence Task Force (DVTF) was launched by Mayor de Blasio in October 2016 and charged with developing a comprehensive citywide strategy to address one of the most urgent challenges facing our City. The work of the Task Force is led by Director of the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice Elizabeth Glazer, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence Cecile Noel, and the Task Force’s Executive Director Bea Hanson.
