DV Media awareness campaign
Home Page

CONNECT launches a campaign focused on bystanders in Central Brooklyn.

In partnership with the Department of Health, CONNECT launches its media campaign in Central Brooklyn reaching out to bystanders – neighbors, friends, and family of survivors of domestic violence. Advertisements for the campaign will be visible on bus shelters and phone kiosks in Crown Heights and Flatbush and will have CONNECT’s helpline number (212.683.1396) as well as Safe Horizon’s.

CONNECT will answer calls from 9am-5pm Monday – Friday, and Safe Horizon will respond to calls on evenings and weekends. Bystanders of domestic violence are encouraged to call in and get resource and referral information from CONNECT, and to become more educated as to the roles that neighbors, family and community people can play in stopping DV. In addition, CONNECT has designed a packet that will be mailed out to callers with more information about helping a survivor or how to get involved in your community.

We are proud that CONNECT staff generated the ideas for this campaign and that we have been able to maintain a focus on working with bystanders of DV and supporting community action.
