We are pleased to invite you to join Quentin Walcott, our Co-Executive Director, for a workshop on intimate partner violence, specifically to address the elephant in the room, “Why does she/he stay with him/her?”, and many more of your important questions and concerns related to Domestic Violence.

When: Friday, March 21, 7:00  - 9:30 pm & Saturday, March 22, 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

Friday’s workshop includes food and fellowship followed by a movie and group discussion facilitated by Rev. Victoria Carr, Sis. Theresa Allen, LCSW & Quentin Walcott.

The workshop on Saturday will cover the following topics and includes continental breakfast and lunch.

  • Definition of Intimate Partner Violence (also known as domestic violence) and its various forms
  • Consequences of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)
  • Impact of Intimate Partner Violence on children and adolescents
  • Correlation between IPV and HIV & other STDs
  • Highlights of NY State laws around intimate partner violence
  • Strategies for safety planning.
