Michael Elam, M.Div. Lecturer and Educator on human sexuality and LGBT issues
DeShannon Barnes-Bowen, MS, Interfaith Minister, Therapist, Founder of ILERA Counseling Services and Coordinator of CONNECT’s Safe Faith Communities Project
Elam will discuss, “Genesis of Sodom and Gomorrah: Unpacking the Text,” a lecture that examines different ways to interpret the “homosexual/homosexuality” scripture in the Hebrew testament, explores and defines sin in the biblical period and highlight the pre- colonized African, Asiatic and Native American social and spiritual views and values of sexuality and gender.

Barnes-Bowens will facilitate a discussion to help make connections to other faith traditions.
