Women’s Empowerment course starts May 3, 2012. Please note the following date changes with the seventh class date TBA.
Women’s Empowerment for Survivors and Victims explores how family violence shapes personal and social lives, and teaches techniques for direct service providers and people interested in leading a women’s support group to empower and heal survivors and victims.
Women’s Empowerment (WE) course ideal for people working with women, victims and survivors.
Over seven consecutive Fridays, participants develop their own curricula, cultivate advocacy skills and create a personal self-care plan to manage the stress of working with trauma victims. Generally, traditional women’s support group courses have a one size fits all approach. Participants in CONNECT’s Women’s Empowerment for Survivors and Victims course create individualized curricula as a final project. This truly captures the special needs of the populations they serve, such as the needs of immigrant women, women with children in the child welfare system and women in recovery.
