Hombres Dialogando

Hombres Dialogando is a peer education group for Spanish-speaking men that focuses on manhood, fatherhood, relationships with intimate partners, and immigration.

Hombres Dialogando (o HD) es un programa para caballeros de habla Hispana, donde podemos tener conversaciones sobre hombria, ser un padre de familia, nuestras relaciónes intimas, y problemas migratorios.

Hombres Dialogando (Men Dialoguing) are transformative conversations with men. Hombres Dialogando (HD) is one of CONNECT Men’s peer education initiatives calling on men to educate other men in their respective families and communities. This a group for Spanish-speaking participants living in New York City.

The HD groups are for adult men with varying backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, education, socioeconomic status, work histories, and immigration status that are currently experiences challenges in their intimate relationships. These men share the experience of struggling in their intimate relationships-with women, their children, and the complex and onerous tasks associated with manhood.

The members of HD voluntarily participate in group sessions that compassionately challenge them and hold them accountable for unhealthy and harmful attitudes and behavior. In each session over the course of six months, men unpack conversations on manhood by taking a look at the people, places, and experiences that have shaped their thinking about what it is to be a man/father/Father-figure in modern day society.

Through crititcal examination of power, privilege and entitlement these men begin to transform their own belief systems and notions of manhood that contributed to unhealthy relationships with thier partners and children.
